Parachute Jump

Huge congratulations to someone that we support who recently made her second parachute jump.

The jump was from 13,000ft which included 53 seconds free falling at 140 mph and another 2 minutes to get her feet back on the ground.

We are all super impressed by the fearlessness she possess and enthusiasm to try new things.

If you have a moment we would love if you can support her by signing the petition that she has started to get as many products as possible labelled with braille. If you do sign, please remember to verify your email or the signature doesn’t count. Thank you.

Summer Get together - lets have a picnic...

There is something lovely about getting out in the (hopefully) sunshine and being altogether.

We are heading to Graves Park for some time together and we would love you to come and join some of the JCC team and some other families.

If you would like to join us,

then please let one of your team know or email info@joshscare.co.uk

Mobile Shower Service

We are starting to offer a mobile shower service that uses a portable system to bring the shower to your home.

The system is personal hygiene at its most portable. The fully contained mobile showering unit and easy drain waterproof bed sheet, allow clean, efficient, comfortable showering.

if anyone would like to avail of this, please get in contact with the clinical team or your locality manager and we can make arrangements to support.

Mobile Shower Service

Huge thanks to one of the parents of someone that we support who has sent information for us to share with everyone about a new accessible boat that can be used at Ladybower Fisheries.

The British Disabled Angling Association (BDAA) wheelchair accessible boats Mary Mo and Codie Mo are perfect boats for fishing. They both have the same style drop down bow doors for easy access. These boats are primarily used for BDAA buddy trips where a fishing coach will accompany anyone with disabilities alongside family members and carers to offer tuition and assistance when needed. Both boats are designed with technology so that they can easily be driven by touch button control so that anyone of any age can have a go at driving them.

The Coulam 16 Ray of Sunshine is a smaller boat ideal for up to 3 people with 2 people fishing at the same time. This boat is designed with an hydraulic lift for wheelchair access and can be driven independently from a wheelchair or with an assistant.

Accessibility Fishing also have a growing range of standard and accessible fishing equipment to use free of charge during any of our accessible events or buddy trip sessions during your day.

For more information, please visit their webpage: https://www.ladybowerfisheries.co.uk/accessibility

Stay hydrated

We are now into the summer season, so we wanted to just add a little reminder for everyone to stay hydrated!

Adults should aim for 1.5-2 litres (8-10 glasses) of fluid daily.

Children need slightly less, and athletes or pregnant/breastfeeding individuals have specific needs.

If you feel you need any advice or support with hydration, please don’t hesitate to contact the office, or a locality manager, for some advice.

Congratulations to Kate

We are so pleased that Kate has won our recent Employee of the Month, she is a fantastic support to everyone, and will always do anything she can to help people.

Thank you Kate for all that you do and congratulations on your nomination!

Staff Shout Outs!

Expertise

Kerry hasn’t been with Josh’s Care very long, but she’s doing an incredible job! She’s grown a good relationship with the person she supports and all of his staff.

Respect

What can I say – I can’t ever choose between Marie and Leah! A great asset to the team, and without them our client wouldn’t get to go to college. Maries is our mum of the team and Leah is like an older sister I’ve never had, as not only do they look after our client, they make sure his team is okay too. I love them to bits! I feel they both 100% deserved this award.

Friendliness

Lindsey is friendly towards everyone she is in contact with. She always makes sure everyone is ok, service users and staff. She always has a smile on her face and she makes me feel good about myself just being around her. She gives off such a friendly heart warming vibe.

Expertise

Megan is so knowledgable about our package, she knows the client and his needs so well. She communicates so well and has such a good bond. She cares so much!

Expertise

John is so friendly when on shift. He cooks food, he knows the persons routine and he is respectful to the person he supports and other staff during hand over. He deserves this.

Friendliness

Blessing is very caring, easy going, he is willing to get stuck in to any task and a great person to work with!

Dependability

Becca has been there for me from day one, when I started the package, when I was nervous about lone working on my first shift here. I have always felt so supported by her as we all lone work and she’s always been there on the other end of the phone to lend a hand when needed, and I have been put in some stressful situations on the odd occasion and Becca has put me at ease, advised and assisted me. Her knowledge of the person she supports is so extensive and valuable to all staff on this package and her dedication goes above and beyond. She is an approachable and encouraging team leader. Becca deserves this one!

Expertise

Amy goes above and beyond. Drawing from personal and professional experience, she has enabled the service user to feel better about himself and how to cope in overwhelming situations. She has made a marked difference to him in so many ways – too many to list!

Dependability

Janine is always there for staff and service users at all times of day for any advice needed.

Dependability

Alice appears to throw her whole heart in to her role, showing a passion to the cause and dedication to her department.

Accountability

Sian has helped to promote the service users independence by enabling a clean and tidy environment. Sian does not usually work on this pacakge, but she has gone above and beyond setting a fine example to pre-existing members of staff on the care package. Sian continues to work to an exceptionally high standard, which ever package she works on.

Dependability

Megan has been going through a hard time right now, but she has been strongly dependable throughout an entire year: not having a single day off sick and helping with extra shifts. I feel some recognition would really cheer her up – she deserves it.

Expertise

Pippa has put a lot of time into my training on the package and explained things clearly and really well. She’s approachable, friendly and very experienced.

Friendliness

Spencer – what can I say, he’s my fave! He not only looks after my son, he comes up with amazing ideas all the time and looks after me too. I couldn’t ask for a better carer / friend.

Dependability

Sian is always so friendly and takes pride in her work. She is also so dependable, she will cover shifts at short notice and is so good with the people she supports.
